Galalite Screens Powers India's Highest Multiplex

Global cinema screen leader Galalite Screens supplies its premium Mirage 2.2 screens, powered by proprietary Lensray Technology, to a record-setting two-screen multiplex at 3,505 metres above sea level in Leh, Ladakh — a landmark achievement for Indian cinema infrastructure.

Mumbai, November 2025 — Galalite Screens, a global leader in cinema screen technology trusted by theatres across more than 50 countries, is proud to announce the successful installation of its Mirage 2.2 screens at PVR INOX’s newest multiplex in Leh, Ladakh — officially recognised as India’s highest multiplex, standing at an elevation of 11,500 feet (3,505 metres) above sea level.

Located at Solar Colony, Saboo, on the Leh-Manali Bypass Road, the two-screen multiplex marks a significant milestone for cinema exhibition in India. Inaugurated in November 2025, the project brings a world-class cinematic experience to one of the country’s most remote and visually stunning regions.

A Milestone in Indian Cinema

India’s cinema exhibition landscape has witnessed remarkable growth over the past decade, expanding beyond metropolitan centres into Tier II and Tier III cities. Yet the launch of PVR INOX Leh transcends all precedents. Delivering cinema infrastructure at such an altitude presents unique environmental and technical challenges. From low air density to extreme weather conditions, every component must perform with precision and consistency.

Galalite Screens rose to that challenge. The company’s Mirage 2.2 screens, trusted by exhibitors across India and internationally, were selected for both auditoriums at the Leh multiplex, bringing metropolitan-grade visual excellence to audiences in one of India’s most remote regions.

Mirage 2.2 with Lensray Technology: Built for Every Auditorium, Ready for Any Altitude

The Mirage 2.2 is part of Galalite’s flagship screen range, designed to deliver superior image uniformity, optimal gain, and consistent performance across diverse projection environments.

At the core of its performance is Galalite’s proprietary Lensray Technology, which enhances light distribution, reduces visual noise, minimises hot-spotting, and ensures uniform brightness across the entire screen. The result is a clear, immersive viewing experience with consistent image quality from every seat.

The screens are fully compatible with advanced projection systems, including the Barco 2K projectors installed at the Leh multiplex, and support Dolby 7.1 Surround Sound and next-generation 3D technologies—enabling a complete, high-quality cinema experience despite the challenging location.

Words from Galalite Screens

“Supplying screens to India’s highest multiplex is a moment of immense pride for us. When cinema reaches locations like Leh, the technology behind it must deliver uncompromised performance, and Mirage 2.2 with Lensray Technology was designed to do exactly that.”

— Siranush Whyte, General Manager, Galalite Screens

Cinema Comes to the Roof of India

The opening of PVR INOX Leh in November 2025 is a significant cultural milestone for Ladakh, a region historically underserved by modern entertainment infrastructure. For local communities, armed forces personnel stationed in the region, and the steady stream of tourists who flock to Ladakh’s dramatic landscapes each year, the multiplex provides a new kind of gathering place — one that combines the universal language of cinema with the unparalleled majesty of the Himalayas.

For Galalite Screens, the project reinforces its commitment to delivering consistent, high-quality cinema experiences across diverse geographies—from urban centres to extreme environments.

With a legacy dating back to 1965 and installations across Asia, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East, the company continues to expand its global footprint through innovation and engineering excellence.
